It is curious that I am talking about this topic just at the moment when a Spanish start-up that has based its success on extraordinary SEO work has been sold for 80 million euros . It is the exception to the rule or at least that has been my experience and perception in recent years. It seems that start-ups are not so clear about this or at least they are not too concerned about it. They do not value it enough as a channel to attract customers. The truth is that most start-ups in Spain have no idea how web positioning really works today .

I’m a bit of an oddball in our office. To start with, I rarely vietnam telegram data touch on SEO (although this week’s posts may seem like I don’t). I’m the one who talks about startups and metrics all the time, and I’m a pain in the ass for everyone to get things done. One has to be the German in the company, so it’s my turn in this case.
We recently bought a giant whiteboard that’s in the form of a 3.00×1.50 meter transparent sticker on the wall. I thought I’d have plenty of space, but since day 1 it’s practically filled with dots. It’s like a Hydra snake. Every time you manage to erase one, two new ones appear.I have also recently been to the Wayra Madrid offices to record a report for TVE (yes, mom, I’m going to be on TV soon I was already what percentage of visitors are returning in Barcelona so I was familiar with the startup atmosphere there but every time I leave there I tell myself “I want offices like that too”. People there also like giant whiteboards. They’re my kind…
Another thing that has impressed me apart from the facilities is the control australi data that most start-ups have over their metrics (at least those on Wayra). It is one of the things that differentiates this world from the SEO world. When one side talks about Customer Lifetime Value and Growth Hacking strategies , the other side uses terms like link building and Private Blog Networks . To be successful with a business you should be able to combine both parts. If you are not Twitter or Facebook, SEO is important.
It is strange and worrying at the same time
It is also strange how little the value of metrics is considered when you move in an SEO world. Sometimes it seems that the only one that seems to exist is whether or not you are in the top 10 of Google for your desired keyword. It is “I’ll catch you here, I’ll kill you here”. Many do not even know their conversion ratio when in theory it is the most basic. It is ignored that for most products several positive contact points must be added before closing a sale .
Obviously there are always exceptions and the cases of
Trovit, Softonic, Milanuncios and others show that if as a start-up you take SEO into account your company can end up
being worth many millions of euros. Positioning the page on Google is only one ingredient of many, so you should
not neglect other aspects of marketing such as the creation of value-added content that I have always defended here (among many other topics).
As we said: on the one hand, start-ups have to
start taking online marketing in general and web positioning in particular more seriously. On the other hand,
SEOs must know that metrics provide value to better understand the business, which in the medium term will help them sell more. Let’s get to work!
